Despite the heavy rain a lone figure overlooked the tennis courts. Like being carved in stone - until another joined it.
"I thought you would stop."
Silence stretched between them.
"I'm sorry."
"Me too."
"You shouldn't have gone on playing.
"And it's not like he cared. Not in particular. No! I'm just an idiot from a rival school anyway!"
It had been like this for nearly half an hour now. A rant Oshitari Yuushi had never before been witness to. Not from him. Not like this.
"Atobe.
"Don't do that again."
The tensai turned, surprise written on his face.
"Don't do what?"
"Try to avoid a ball heading towards your nose at the last second. You're a prodigy not an idiot."
Fuji smiled.
Although he couldn't see them yet, the loudness indicated that the whole team had come to 'pick him up'. Tezuka almost smiled. Rounding the corner he wasn't at least surprised when Kikumaru tried to jump into his arms, happily chanting his name and title like a mantra.
"Tezuka?"
"I'm fine, Syusuke."
"If I didn't hear wrong you just called me by my first name in public. That's far from being fine for you."
Tezuka sighed.
"I'll be alright. I just need some rest when we get home."
One eyebrow rose.
"Syusuke, please.
Seigaku's buchou cared deeply for every member of his team. Though he let Oishi handle almost anything emotional, he knew that this time his fuku-buchou would have been the wrong choice.
"He told me he would be able to handle it. I really thought he told me the truth.
"I brought your homework," Gakuto started nervously, hoping his doubles partner wouldn't be mad. Yuushi just nodded before gesturing for the red-head to follow him to his room.
"Your turn, buchou." Tezuka nodded, turning towards Atobe but the other captain had already shouldered his bag. "Ore-sama has more important things to attend to."
It took Tezuka fifteen minutes to say goodbye to his team without raising suspicion.
"Stop fussing. It's just a scratch."
"A scratch?" Fuji asked, sarcasm mixed with disbelief obvious in his voice. "Tezuka, you really need to learn the difference between 'just a scratch' and a serious flesh-wound."
"It's not a flesh-wound."
"Is."
"Is not."
"Is.
Be the one who looks behind the facade the Snapes have cultivated for years. Be the first who watches them in their daily lifes and the first to find out why they behave the way they do.
Oshitari Yuushi was not a man who got easily startled, upon reading the header of today’s newspaper however he spit out his tea in pure shock. Taking deep, calming breaths he read it once again but the letters refused to vanish.
